Potomac Steamboat, partial but
identifable CDS (Towle G-21-a, scarcity VI) ties #11 on buff cover with
some edge wear and staining, addressed to Commodore William Green
aboard USS Decatur at Pensacola, Florida. Manuscript "Ford 5"
though it is unclear to where the cover was forwarded and there are no
additional postmarks. Unusual combination of waterway route agent
origin and naval destination.

Exposition post office machine
postmark from the Panama-Pacific Exposition of San Francisco;
International machine. Virtually all strikes of this marking are
on postcard, unfortunately this cover uses a 2 cent Washington
definitive instead of one of the exposition commemoratives.
Apparently stray pencil mark below stamp (just barely affects bottom
right corner); envelope backflap has Palace Hotel crest with expo
logo. Nice example of this station machine.

Small piece of paper missing in the rate; the paper is only folded at

the ink erosion. Nice Ohio straightline. Personal letter
content; fragile due to splits along folds.
