Allover reverse 1883 publicity cover for the Tri-State Fair at Toledo, Ohio, with state seals of Ohio, Michigan and Indiana and various text.  Slightly rough at left (as seen from reverse) from opening.  Cover bears text corner card and is standard 3-cent green stamped envelope to NY; receiver is a Tilton machine "Late Arriaval Mail Train Detention" marking.  Some soiling.

Gorgeous allover ad cover from Philadelphia, probably 1886 but postmark is unclear, #210 tied with duplex, great vignette of a factory or office building, Carey Bros. & Grevemeyer, Booksellers and Wall paper manufacturers.  Note the steam engine at lower left!  Alas, no backflap.  Still lovely.

Nice 1932 registered cover with reverse advertising showing a moving truck; corner card of Wilson & Hamilton of Zanesville, OH.  Pair of 9 cent Washington Bicentennials and a #720 to Marietta OH, unclaimed and returned to sender with a Marietta pointing hand.  Scan of front on request.

Pretty 1914 ad cover from the Ridenour-Baker Grocery Company of Kansas City MO (company is identified in text on reverse), great color can logo at left, bold Kansas City Station A flag cancel, 2 cent Washington Franklin coil (#413, perf 8.5 vertical).  Lovely cover!

Interesting 1899 ad cover from Hampden, OH, with 2 cent Trans-Mississippi, for the Ohio Department of the Central Congregationalist.  Additional text at left plus allover reverse text listing the benefits to Ohio churches of the Central Congregationalist.  Some soiling but looks worse in the scan than it is.

Late 19th century ad cover, 3rd class usage with undated Greenfield OH CDS, ties 1 ct blue first bureau, corner card of the Sun Manufacturing Co., with cash register vignette.  Unsealed flap, manila paper which accounts for the color.  Nice cover.

nice COLOR ad cover, 1912, allover reverse vigentte of steamship (the new steamer Commonwealth), of the Fall River Line -- New York and Boston.  A couple of small edge tears at top and some edge roughness; cover has unclear NY duplex on a vertical pair of 1 cent Franklin stamps.   Beautiful piece!

1904 Indianapolis yellow ad cover with red corner card for the National Encampment of United Spanish War Veterans and medal vignette, #319 and International machine cancel, sent to the commander of another post.  Much scarcer than GAR covers.

Pretty purple allover reverse ad for the Mansfield Elks' Stret Fair and Trades Expo in 1899, with elk vignette, dates, and slogans; corner card shows a building vignette but no company name readily apparent; 2 cent first burea and Mansfield flag cancel.  A few edge tears at top but a pretty cover.

Nice 1901 ad cover from Chicago (with International machine cancel and 2ct first bureau sent to Moscow Idaho), with allover advertising offering a "century" pocket watch (manufactured for Sears, Roebuck by Seth Thomas) for only $2.70.  Plenty of text proclaiming the virtues of the watch and the price.  A bit reduced at the left of the advertising, into the watch vignette, still nice.

Nice 1860s allover ad cover of  Munn & Co. Scientific American Patent Agency; blurry NYC duplex on #65; nice vignette of a building at upper left and an office scene below.  Note addressee:  Edwin Stanton, Secretary of War.  Pencil docketing on reverse regarding original content.  Pretty!

large size ad cover from Bamford PA, with type 3/2 Doane cancel, advertising cover for Hoffman Homestand Farm, with COLOR image of a farmer sowing seed.  Doanes on ad covers are very, very hard to find.  A bit of toning on this brown cover, and some trimming at top (backflap missing).

Pretty 1898 ad cover, Deer Park Training Kennels, Deer Park, TX.  2 cent first bureau with CDS and target killer, nice corner card showing "The Texas Sport", apparently at stud at this kennel, with pretty vignette of the dog.  Slight reduction at left.

  • Unusual 1913 ad cover from Grafton MA, showing J. Frank Donahue, a dealer in cattle, horses, carriages and harness.  Rather than his goods, Mr. Donahue elected to show "himself".  Addressed to the John Deere Co. at Syracuse; also unusual is the Grafton Cummins machine cancel; seldom seen on interesting advertising covers.
