My wife Christine is an amateur (though pretty good) naturalist and has particular interests in birds, wildflowers, and insects. She can sometimes convince me to go on trips with her but it's tough to pull me away from the computer.
I am a member of the American Philatelic Society (#168685), as well as the Ohio Postal History Society, the Indiana Postal History Society, the Machine Cancel Society, the U.S. Philatelic Classics Society, the Garfield-Perry Stamp Club, and the Collectors Club of Akron. I currently serve as the editor of the Ohio Postal History Journal. I have also published articles in Global Stamp News and in the journal of the International Society of Worldwide Stamp Collectors. I may also be frequently found on the various internet stamp chat boards.
I am a relative newcomer to the commercial side of philately, though of course most collectors buy and sell as part of the routine practice of the hobby. I performed my first sale in 1996-my senior year of college. I started using eBay as a buyer in October 1996 and started selling a month later. I eventually began putting together some material for net-price offerings as well. My handling of letters and postcards, and other miscellaneous documents, is really all an outgrowth of my experience with stamps. While I do consider myself to be knowledgeable, there are lots of things I don't know. I do, however, like to learn--so if you see an error in any of my lot descriptions, or have additional information about a piece, please let me know!
